Changing Economy, Changing Society report by StrategEast presented at Atlantic Council in Washington
On July 24th Anatoly Motkin, StrategEast President, presented a report entitled “Changing Economy, Changing Society” at the Atlantic Council headquarters in Washington, D.C. Mr. Motkin outlined the current state of the IT sector in Eurasia and the Baltic states and highlighted the potential of the IT industry to facilitate further economic and social changes. Arkady Dobkin, principal founder, CEO and
President of EPAM Systems, and Amb. John Herbst, Atlantic Council Eurasia Center Director spoke alongside Anatoly Motkin.
The report presentation was followed by a discussion on the potential nature and scale of the digital transformation and its influence on societies in the region.
Government officials, diplomats, senior representatives of international financial institutions and organizations, presented at the event, touched upon the role information technology plays in the former Soviet space to enhance the region’s ongoing transformation. Such transformation can influence and raise a new generation of Western-oriented leaders who will steward the region along the path of modernization. As the participants underlined, facilitating that development, however, will require guidance and expertise from governments and the IT sector in the West.
