Georgia launches National Start-up Association
A national start-up association has been founded in Georgia, launched on the incentive of four start-up companies: Styx, Areal, Spy, and Influence Georgia.
The Association aims to encourage and support the development and strengthening of the start-up ecosystem in the country. To fulfill its goal, it plans to advocate education in this direction, further develop the professions related to the start-up ecosystem and to improve the existing legislative environment. The National Start-up Association seeks to strengthen the start-up ecosystem not only within the country’s borders but also beyond. To make that wish a reality, the founders of the association realize fully the significance of improving the informative education level among the entrepreneurial entities.
“To make it happen, we need one particular mechanism to be put to work,” says Mako Kavtaradze, the Chairperson of the National Start-up Association. “It is crucial to facilitate easy access to qualified services, as well as ensure services of export and consultation through empowering local and international partnerships. This will also facilitate the processes of ensuring quality and management of products.”
Considering the importance of its goals, the Association already has a number of active and significant events scheduled, among them launching new projects and programs for its members, and creating a new platform for their development and professional growth.
The National Start-up Association plans to actively counsel for, partner up, and collaborate with governmental and non-governmental institutes, international organizations, private sector, and interested parties. These future partnerships will be related to programs of retraining and provision of appropriate education/information, as they are incredibly important for the development of the start-up ecosystem.
Focusing on the educational goals, the Association plans to host and organize conferences and seminars about renowned start-up topics.
One of the main fields of the Association’s work will be to raise the participation level in finding and attracting investors. This will be done to allow start-ups access to as many financial resources as possible so that finances are not barriers for their start-ups.
“The members of the Association perfectly realize the need to improve innovations and create more stimuli and global integration activities. All this is significant because it will facilitate the development of various innovative spheres. What’s more, our Association plans to provide centralized supervision of the innovative results, while keeping the autonomy of the start-ups. To effectively fulfill our aims, we will work closely with local and international private, governmental and non-governmental organizations,” Kavtaradze says.

As soon as the National Start-up Association was established, the founders agreed to select and apply democratic, rotational principles for ruling it.
